‘Ouroboros’ starts off by giving us a glimpse into the survivors of Fight 462. While Alex is seemingly doing fine, Jake is not doing so well. His face is badly burned and the other survivors think he should be put out of his misery.
Meanwhile, Travis and crew have some problems of their own. The engine of the yacht stops working as they are trying to avoid the mysterious ship following them. Strand
asks demands Travis fix the water intake. It turns out a walker got curious and got its arm stuck in what I assume is the water intake. I thought walkers couldn’t swim, instead they just sort of floated around until they sank. Soooo how this happened, I don’t know.
Elsewhere on the boat, Ofelia’s injury has gotten infected. She wants to ask Madison for some medicine, but Daniel insists it’s a “family matter” so it should stay between the two of them. He tries to compare needing medicine to Madison having to choose who to save, Ofelia or her own daughter. Okay?
Alicia spots the wreckage from Flight 462 and suggests they go search for supplies. All the adults are against it, but of course the teens insist on going. Finally Daniel agrees to go along and babysit the kids. The adults finally relent and off they go.
Once they land, Daniel tells everyone to make it quick and keep in sight of him. Everything is going smooth and Travis is able to successfully remove the walker, but not before giving Madison a heart attack as blood begins to bubble to the surface.
It’s at this point that everything starts going wrong.
Chris, of course, decides to go off on his own further inland, where he finds a very badly injured passenger. Did anyone else feel their own spine when they saw the passenger’s injury?
Madison and Strand have a discussion basically saying that if he even thinks about abandoning them or looks at them wrong, she will kill him. Oh also he confirms that their new destination is Baja, Mexico. He apparently has a house there with plenty of supplies (and, we’re assuming, whoever he’s been trying to call is waiting for him there)
Nick finds a pit with a walker munching on some crabs. He gets too close to the edge and falls in. He’s able to fight off the first walker, but another walker quickly comes after him.
Daniel goes searching for Chris, but instead runs into Alex! She’s running from….a horde of walkers. Daniel, Alex, Alicia, and Chris are dangerously close to being overrun.
Alicia seems to be dead meat when, surprise surprise, Nick saves the day. Using the same walker blood/guts trick Rick’s group used, he is able to walk among the walkers unnoticed. In the best scene of the episode, Nick decides to test his theory by coming face to face with a walker. What a badass.
They finally make it back to the Abigail, but not before making a pitstop. Alex stowed Jake away somewhere on the life raft. That’s two more passengers and Strand isn’t having it. They once again argue on whether they should bring them along or not. Strand says they are a liability since Jake is so badly wounded, but finally Travis suggests towing them so they don’t actually come onboard.
The yacht is working, everyone is safe, and all seems well. Alex is giving Jake a pep talk telling him that “this is the worst it’ll be” and things will get better when….Strand cuts the rope and abandons them! What an asshole!
Next week’s episode looks like it will deal with the consequences of Strand’s decision to leave Alex and Jake behind, as well as how secretive he’s been about who he is and where exactly they’re going. Also in a sneak peak scene we see naked Nick swimming ashore. Did the yacht sink? Why is he alone? And more importantly, where are his clothes?
